Note: In
1978, Dean Martin Griffin said about the cessation (temporary it turned out) of
grade inflation, "I don't see how it could have gotten much higher."
At the time, 43% of YaleÕs A through F grades were AÕs, a nearly four-fold
increase from the grade equivalent to an A in 1963. In 2013, Yale issued a
public statement that 62% of its grades were AÕs. That percentage included all grades, not
just A through F. In 2014, a report
(see below) noted that 68.3% of all grades were AÕs in the 2013 Fall semester.
There are only two other schools in our database where the percentage of
AÕs exceeds 67%.
